Former Montreal Canadiens Captain to be Inducted

Scored 515 Goals and 812 Assists in 19-Year Career

Pierre Turgeon, a five-time NHL All-Star and former captain of the Montreal Canadiens, has been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Turgeon, who played 19 seasons in the NHL, scored 515 goals and 812 assists in 1,294 games. He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Monday, becoming the 60th member of the Canadiens organization to receive the honor.

Turgeon was drafted first overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. He played for the Sabres, Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and Vancouver Canucks during his career. He was a key member of the Canadiens' Stanley Cup-winning team in 1993.

Turgeon is known for his exceptional skating ability and offensive skills. He was a dangerous scorer and playmaker, and he was also a strong defensive player. He was named to the NHL All-Star Game five times and was a finalist for the Hart Trophy in 1993.

Turgeon retired from the NHL in 2007. He was inducted into the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame in 2010.
